Did the Earth Move for You Dear?

Well, there I was dreaming that I was teaching somebody the etymology of the the phrase "dressed up to the nines" (yes, I have very boring dreams) when I was woken by my bed shaking and my windows rattling. "Crikey", says I "this is an earthquake!" The DH and I got up and checked on the girls, and then looked out of the window at the street below. The scene was a bit disappointing and although I wasn't expecting a William Blake style vision of the apocalypse, I thought one or two of my neighbours would've turned on their lights or popped out in their dressing gowns to have a look about. But, just like us they stayed inside with the lights turned out, wondering why none of the neighbours had got up to have a look about. It was a very English earthquake.

Oh, and don't ask me what the etymology of the phrase "dressed up to the nines" is, I only know that kind of stuff in my dreams.

Oops, sorry, that was me who removed their comment, I didn't like how I worded things.

I didn't know y'all had earthquakes in England.

I've only been in one earthquake in my life and even though it was a REALLY small one it is such an odd feeling when it happens.

Glad it wasn't serious. (o:

It woke me up! And the thing is earlier in the day I'd had a nap and dreamt it was the end of the world. So when we had an earthquake in the night I woke up panicking that it really was the end of the world.

Hi Mrs B
I think earthquakes in England are a really recent phenomena. This one was a 5.2 and it was weird! We had one a year or two ago as well, but I slept through that one!

Hi Sarah
When I woke up and looked out of the window I kind of expected more drama!lol! Like a big crack in the road or space aliens or something.

Poor old you! Bad dreams and earthquakes are a pretty stressful mixture!

If that is the standard of your dreams you should be grateful for the earthquake. I experienced an earth tremor once and it is such a weird feeling isn't it.

Hi Jenny
I have the most boring dreams in the world. It's a really good job I rarely remember them! Yes, it was a very weird feeling!
