Domum, Domum, Dulce Domum

Hello Everyone!

Well, we're back home and we had a really great time. Utterly action packed, slightly exhausting but brilliant. The kids were in their element and made lots of new friends, I had such a lot of fun and can't remember when I last ate so many chips and laughed such a lot. They all sang beautifully, behaved very well (even the adults!lol!) and looked very splendid indeed in their freshly washed whites and neatly brushed hair. The priory is beautiful, and the staff looked after us all very well, Bridlington old town is quaintly Georgian, and the sea-front is an old-fashioned British sea-side extravaganza; complete with saucy postcards, fish and chip shops and stripy rock. Anyway, I'll leave you now, I'll post more tomorrow. I hope you all had good weekends. God Bless!

I am glad it all turned out right in the end for you. I could do with a big salty, vinegary bag of chips right now!

Sounds like a lovely trip! I've always wanted to take a trip to an old fashioned sea-side town. Have you ever read any young adult books by Hilary McKay? It seems her characters are always taking trips to the shore and getting into ridiculous scrapes. I'd like that--the seaside and the scrapes. --Frances

Hi Simone
I like my chips with plenty of salt and vinegar too!

Hi Frances
No, I haven't read the Hilary McKay books, but they sound like something my eldest girl would enjoy. I'll look out for them.

McKay has a series of books about four sisters--The Exiles, The Exiles in Love, and one other (can't remember the title, but you get the drift). The sisters are very quirky and funny. I highly recommend these books.--Frances

p.s. McKay is English, by the way, so the seashores in her books are English seashores.

Hi Frances
I'm looking her up now!

Hi Frances
Have bought the first "Exiles" book from Amazon for my eldest to read whilst we're on holiday in Cornwall (10 days time)! They look brilliant and I'm ashamed to say I'd never heard of McKay before.
