This is a Public Service Announcement

More of this

means more of this!

Okay, let me elucidate. Whilst polishing off the last piece of Bakewell Tart/Pudding, for my BREAKFAST this morning (yes, I know I'm a bad girl) I let out a rather undignified yelp. "Why?" I hear you ask. Well, I read in the newspaper that when a woman wears a floral scent, not only does she appear more attractive to the opposite sex, but she is perceived as one stone (that's 14 pounds) slimmer. This is great news. I'm off to the Body Shop now to purchase some of that floral miracle juice, but before I go I'll post the recipe for said tart. We ate it straight out of the oven for pudding last night, but it's just as nice eaten as a tart for a tea-time (or even breakfast-time) treat! Enjoy!

1 quantity of shortcrust pastry made with 6 oz flour and 3 oz of fat (use lard, or lard and butter)
1 8 inch deep pie tin
3 oz caster sugar
3 oz butter
2 medium eggs
A few drops of almond extract
1 oz self-raising flour
2 oz ground almonds
Two or three tablespoons of jam
A few flaked almonds or some icing sugar to decorate (optional)

Roll out pastry and line the greased pie dish. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, then add the almond extract and beaten eggs (gradually). The fold in the ground almonds and the flour. Spread jam onto the base of the pastry, then add the almondy mixture. Sprinkle a thin layer of flaked almonds on top of the tart (optional) and then bake for 30-35 at 190/375 or gas Mark5. Leave to cool in the tin, or eat hot. If you want to prettify it you may dust it with icing sugar. Serve with cream (you know you want to!)

I'm laughing - What a great posting! I wonder if there is an almond fragrance that would make the wearer want to bake the tart? :<) I know that when I put cocoa mulch on the flower gardens, I simply must go in the house and bake brownies. I have a couple Body Shop perfumes - Indian Gardenia and Oceanus - which seem pretty florally to me. If I wear them together will I look 28 pounds slimmer?? Again, a great post.

Isn't that interesting! I must say I've never smelt a perfume and though of the size of the wearer. I guess I'm not a gentleman ;-)

Hi Nan
I know that vanilla scent makes me want to eat ice cream. Yes, I think there's scientific proof that the more perfume you wear, the thinner you look.

Hi Sarah
You may laugh, but I wept with joy!

Hi Mrs Pea
Oh, yes, spray yourself with perfume tomorrow morning and those take-away pounds will vanish.

Hi Marie
You hit the nail on the head. The perfume thing only works on chaps, chapesses are never fooled by a bit of scent!

That just convinced me that spending money on perfume is definately better value for money than a gym subscription. Yay!

Hi Seraphim
Oh, yes you're money's better off spent on perfume...perfume makes a person smell nice too, the gym definitely doesn't!
