A Mulitcultural, Inner City, View of the Snow

Pupil One: Year 10 student, an escapee from some terrible African dictatorship (fluent in many languages).

Pupil: Oh God! Look at it!
Me: Look at what?
Pupil: The snow. The bloody snow, miss.
Me: I like it. I like proper seasons.
Pupil: I hate it. I hate being cold. I really wish they actually had deported us now!

Pupil Two: Year 10 student, originally from Poland (just in the country, speaks broken English).

Me: Ooh, look at the snow. I hope I can get home okay.
Pupil Two: I don't know what you making fuss about. In Poland I'd be wearing shorts.

I like proper seasons too but we don't half moan at the inconvenience!

Love snow. Winter isn't winter without snow.

I saw a man at the hospital wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I wondered at him, but perhaps he was Polish.
