100 Posts!

Well, it's been a very busy week. My mum has been visiting and we've had such a great time, but she's off to my sisters now and I'm busy packing for our camping trip to Cornwall. We're all looking forward to getting away, and (fingers crossed) the weather looks pretty tame, if not superb, for our holiday. It also seems fitting, seeing as I'll be away from the PC for a while, that this should be my 100th post. And, in time-honoured tradition, I shall be doing a bit of a giveaway just to say thank you to my readers (all 20 of you!lol!)
I have a nice book, dating from the immediate post-war period, "Odham's Household Encyclopedia", which gives a delightful insight into British homemaking in the late 1940s. There are chapters on home sewing, cooking, DIY, home design and child care. I've used the jamming and canning instructions in this book (they work very well) and I do like the illustrations, some of which are in colour.

Now, if you fancy having a read through this vintage gem, then just leave a comment and I'll pick the winning name out of the hat when I come back from my holidays on 2nd September. I may throw in some knitted dish cloths and perhaps some homemade jam (post lady permitting) for the lucky winner too.

Thank you again gentle reader, for it is you who make blogging fun!

EDIT: I'm happy to post the book to foreign climbs!

I'm just commenting to say congratulations on 100 posts! I'm slowly reading through the archives and thoroughly enjoying myself!

Since I live in the States, perhaps you shouldn't sign me up for the giveaway. I ship books to a friend in the UK from time to time and it's expensive. That book does look fabulous, however, and you're lovely to give it away.

Have a great camping trip. Looking forward to your return--Frances

Happy Hundred!
Happy Holiday!

Please leave the book drawing for those closest to you. Shipping overseas is ridiculous. I'll just keep coming here to get my dose of English Housewifery.

Happy holidays.
Just wanted to let you know that you have another reader here.
I'd love to see the book, I'm in Australia though so if postage is too much I don't mind not being in the draw.
cheers Kate

Happy 100, 100 posts and you haven't deleted your blog. Well done.

I love the look of the book. Old homemaking books seem to be so hard to find over here.

Happy holiday.

Hope you're having a lovely time! You're not far from where we were at Prussia Cove - www.prussiacove.co.uk. Fingers crossed for better weather than we had.

And congrats on your 'centpostary'. Lovely to have a kindred spirit in the blogosphere! I'd love to be included in the draw - assuming the postage to Fife ain't too dear!

Congrats on your 100th post. Yes, put me in for the drawing, not only do I love the vintage homekeeping books, I am in dire need of knitted dishcloths. Yes, I knit, but haven't had the time.

Thank you - your blog is great.

Hi There Dulce, hope you had a wonderful time camping. Im an avid reader of your blog and I arrived here via the fantastic Little Jenny Wren. I dont comment often as Im shy. Jenny is correct, is it very hard to get vintage home-making books here in Oz, Id love to go in the draw, but like someone else said, dont worry about posting to Oz if it is too expensive.
By the way, thank for the link to Brocante Home Chronicles, Im now addicted !
Cheers
