So I'm "two posts" Domum today. I'm just like a bus (no jokes about the size of my behind, please)... you wait for ages for a post then I decide to post two on the same day! But, it's one of those November days where it never seems to get light, the DH is picking up the girls from school , there's a chocolate cake in the oven, I've been reading some good words and listening to some good tunes and I thought I should share them with you.
First for the tunes. Here's a Youtube video of one of my favourite songs "The First Girl I Loved" by the Incredible String Band. It's about first love (well, duh) and it's very beautiful. When I listen to it I wonder why women think men are unromantic, it seems to me that they're much more romantic than women. This song is gorgeously romantic, and for some reason it reminds me of Yeats! Oh, and a word to the wise, if you enjoy the song, and wish to go on to discover a little about the band, be warned, they're quite an odd bunch.

Next up, inspired by talk of Jewish food in the comments section of a previous post, here's an extract of Kitchen Blues, by Rabbi Lionel Blue. It seems to link quite nicely with my previous post. It's about baking and children. Genuinely lovely.
When I am 'old and grey and full of sleep' I shall take up baking and contemplation. Both share a deep slow rhythm, and a purifying colour. I shall make cakes with a theological message, such as Angel Cake and Devil's Food Cake, and decorating biscuits will be an innocent pastime when passion is not the problem it was.
...I think to bake properly, you need children who have a deep respect for cakey smell and biscuit colours, and who are both critical and encouraging. I don't have any - to my regret.
Have a good weekend, fellow huswives!

I agree that men are much more romantic than women. They are also more sentimental and worse to gossip. Not to paint an entire gender with one broad brushstroke ...
I've memed you. Come over to my blog and see what the deal is!

Hi Frances
My dad and my BIL are terrible gossips! My DH is not a gossiper, though. I therefore declare that you are only a third right!
Fair enough! Though I'd argue that I'm two-thirds right ...
